PiggyPot Shutdown Information
As the founder of PiggyPot, I wanted to thank you for your support and for using PiggyPot. This was an incredibly hard decision to make because you and 15,000 others trusted us to make saving and budgeting work better for you. The app had an amazing ride, but it did not succeed as a business nearly as much as our new savings and investment app, Yomo.
As a result, we have begun the process of shutting down PiggyPot. We contacted all users in December to let them know that deposits were stopping from the 18th of the month onwards. Since then most users have withdrawn their savings back to their bank accounts. Some users still have balances in PiggyPot, and they can either withdraw those via the app until 31st January, or they will be automatically refunded after that date.
Is my money safe?
Yes. All funds are held in protected saving accounts and are available for withdrawal in full. You can do that via the app until 31st January. After that date, it will be withdrawn automatically to your bank account or back to your original deposit card.
What do I need to do?
Nothing, but we would recommend withdrawing your funds well ahead of the shutdown on 31st January 2018. Although funds after the shutdown will be returned in full, it may take a little bit longer to receive your money.
So what's next with PiggyPot? Is there a going to be a wake? Actually, there is no wake (but thank you for asking) because the PiggyPot team is alive and flourishing in another form.
Over the past six months, we have been working on a completely new app that helps users to grow their money beyond savings. It is now live on the app store and already grown to over 2,000 users. Just like PiggyPot, you can make regular deposits and save up for the important things in life. But, you also earn rewards along the way and, soon, will be able to invest your money to grow it. You can be one of the first to check it out by pressing the button below, or search for Yomo in the Apple app store.
Thank you again to you all for all your support over the past couple of years. We’ll miss you, but hopefully see most of you over on Yomo sometime soon.
